In the Beowulf film (2007) the hero Beowulf arrives in Denmark to take the task of defeating the monster Grendel who has been terrorizing the mead hall. After a long battle, Beowulf kills Grendel while using nothing but his bare hands and gains reputation in Denmark. This led to King Hrothgar giving him rewards and celebrating the defeat of the monster Grendel. However, Grendel's mother soon attacks Beowulf's warriors at the mead hall during night out of revenge for her son. This alerts the King and Beowulf accepts the job to defeat Grendel's mother. As Beowulf enters the swamp, he meets the seductive monster know as Grendel's mother who lures him into making a contract that leads to the creation of a fire breathing dragon. As decades pass on and Beowulf becomes the king, this dragon is awoken and begins to terrorize Denmark. The dragon killed many people and destroyed plenty of homes. In the final battle of the film, Beowulf decides to defeat this dragon himself and taking himself out as well. As Beowulf dies he gives the thrown to his closest warrior, Wiglaf. The death of Beowulf caused much affliction around the kingdom but he was never forgotten
