King Hrothgar
King Hrothgar is the wise respected leader of Danes, he created the mead hall where many of his people celebrate and host events. He was kind to his people but kept secrets from his loved ones and was too old for battle.

Grendel
A dangerous monster who attacks Heorot and strikes the hall of King Hrothgar's at night. Grendel is a primary antagonist in the story and he hates loud noise and tries to stop it immediately. Grendel causes chaos and kills many people before Beowulf's arrival.


Grendel's Mother
Grendel's Mother is one of the antagonist in the film and poem of Beowulf. She is a humanoid monstrous creature that lives in a dark, underwater swamp. She plays a big role and is involved with Beowulf and King Hrothgar.

The Dragon
The fire breathing dragon that appears in the final battle is the dangerous the people of Danes have ever seen. It remained in its lair until a thief removes an important piece of treasure. Because this happened, the dragon began to terrorize and kill many people in the village. This dragon could also be known as Beowulf's son.

Wiglaf
A Geatish warrior and one of Beowulf's loyal followers. Wiglaf is extremely loyal to Beowulf and is the only one to stay by Beowulf's side when they confront the dragon. His loyalty towards Beowulf allowed him to become the King of Danes after Beowulf died while slaying the dragon.

Wealhtheow
Wealhtheow is an important character in Beowulf and is the queen of Danes. She was the wife of King Hrothgar before he died and passed on his kingdom to Beowulf. She is a part of a noble family and plays a significant role by slowly discovering the secrets of both King Hrothgar and Beowulf.
